How to Organize Your Kitchen Cabinets
Can anyone guess what a big part of my morning routine is? It’s coffee. It’s the first thing I think about as soon as my eyes open. I wake up, I brew it, I drink it, I get ready for work, and on my way out of the door I make a big to go cup of it for the ride. I go through this routine every morning, and every morning on my way out, I open that cabinet. You know that cabinet. It’s the cabinet with all of your misc. cups, tupperware, pots etc. We’re all busy & unless we place systems that we can easily follow into our busy lives, we will never stay organized. If you make a space for things on purpose, it is just as easy to put them in their place as it is to just sling them into the back of the cabinet, hoping that they will land in place. So here is my step by step instructions on building a more efficient kitchen cabinet solution.
What is The Most Efficient Way to Organize Kitchen Cabinets?
1. Take everything out of the cabinet.
Take everything out of the cabinet & wipe down. This would also be a good time to add in a liner at the bottom of cabinet. After you have taken everything out, toss or donate all items that are damaged or not useful.
2. Separate items
First, separate items that you use daily vs. items that you use less frequently. Then further separate items into like groups.
3. Purchase cabinet organizers/dividers.
Cabinet organizers are very useful for items that do not stack well and make your cabinets look untidy. Here are some that I have found useful at home!
Smart Design 5 Tier Pot Holder – great for pots & pans.
Smart Design Bakeware & Lid Rack – Great for muffin tins & cake pans.
Smart Design Undershelf Baset – Great for storing to go cups & tupperware.
4. Add Items back into Cabinet
Start with the items that you use less frequently. These items will go towards that back and on the top shelf of cabinet. Then, start filling in the front of cabinet with the items that you use daily. As you are adding your items in, I suggest placing your grouped items, like the items in the dividers, in ascending height order. This will help you to be able to see everything when you are choosing your items.
